We’re proud to pilot a cattle biometric identification system in partnership with local herders. We believe that this innovation will go a long way in tackling cattle rustling which is a major cause of armed conflict in some parts of Nigeria.
The system uses AI to capture and analyse muzzle prints, which like human fingerprints, are unique to each animal. Using only a smartphone, herders can capture a muzzle print and store it in a secure database. The system is designed for African realities. It works fully offline and we are developing interfaces in Hausa, Fulfulde, Kanuri and other local languages to ensure widespread adoption among pastoral communities.
